When you work in a pet care facility, the health and well-being of the dogs must be top priority. The best pet care professionals are committed to the dogs and do whatever is possible to ensure the happiness and safety of their furry clients. When dogs are away from home and out of their normal daily routine, it is essential to try to maintain familiarity so that they have a fun and enriching time.
At Playful Pups Retreat we want our furry guests to have a fun time, whether they are playing with the doggie pals, or having personal activity sessions with one of our team. This daily enrichment not only provides mental and physical stimulation but it also relaxes and calms the dogs, so the time they spend in their lodging room is then more enjoyable and they are also more likely eat all their meals. Most dogs have no problems eating when out of their routine, but some dogs are more sensitive to new environments or smells and may not eat as well when away from home.
A few years ago, we began using a new bowl option for food and water for many of our guests, called a Kinn Kleanbowl, and were pleasantly surprised at the results! The Kleanbowl includes two parts, a metal frame assigned to each dog for their entire stay, and a Kleanbowl refill. Kleanbowl Refills are made of sugar cane fiber, a sustainable by-product of the sugar cane refining process. Sourcing of sugar cane fiber has a negative carbon footprint as it is commonly burned as a waste product, and sugarcane is a renewable resource.
The initial reason we decided to use the Kinn Kleanbowls at Playful Pups Retreat for overnight lodging guests is because they create less waste since the refill is biodegradable and recyclable, so it is better for the environment and are fast and simple for our team when they are feeding the dogs in our care. Because we use the Kleanbowl our team has more time to have fun with the dogs who stay with us, that’s a Win-Win in our opinion!
Also, Kleanbowl offers a 100% germ, bacteria, and virus-free food or water bowl, so dogs who may not want to eat out of our standard stainless steel bowls will typically eat out of a Kleanbowl. This sustainable bowl option promotes healthier nutrition and hydration for the dogs we care for and is one of the many ways we choose to go above and beyond for the dogs we are so fortunate to care for.
